Spring is the season of resurrection.
Across faiths, cultures, and centuries, this time of year has been marked by the return of life after death—literally, metaphorically, spiritually, and mythically. From Persephone rising from the underworld to Christ emerging from the tomb, spring has always signaled more than a change in the weather. It is the moment when the unreal becomes real: the dead rise, the sun returns, and the world begins again.
Resurrection is not without its shadows. To rise, something must first fall. To begin again, something must first end. In this issue, we will explore that tension. The beauty and terror of return. The quiet, unsettling truth that nothing which rises again does so unchanged.
Spring reminds us that death is not an ending, but a beginning. Welcome to the season of return. Welcome to THE GRAY.
